Medicare Supplement Plans in Brevard NC

Medicare Supplement plans in Brevard NC, also known as Medigap, help pay deductibles and coinsurance under Original Medicare. Many clients choose Medigap for the freedom to see any provider who accepts Medicare nationwide, which is helpful for travel or seasonal stays outside Transylvania County. Dalton Insurance compares Plan G, Plan N, and other options so your coverage aligns with your budget and routine care.

Why consider a Medigap plan

Predictable costs and peace of mind

With the right letter plan, many Medicare-covered services involve little or no additional bill. We outline what each plan pays so surprises are limited.

Nationwide provider access

See any Medicare-participating provider in North Carolina or across the country, with no referral to visit a specialist.

Keep Original Medicare, add coverage

You keep your red-white-and-blue card, then add Medigap to limit out-of-pocket costs. You will also need a separate prescription plan.

Answers to Frequent Medigap Questions

  • What is the difference between Plan G and Plan N?

Plan G generally covers everything that Original Medicare doesn’t, except the Part B annual deductible. It also covers Part B excess charges. Plan N usually has lower premiums but adds small copays (up to about $20 for many office visits and up to about $50 for ER visits if not admitted) and does not cover Part B excess charges; you’d pay those if a provider bills above Medicare’s approved amount.

  • Can I get a Medigap plan if I’m under 65 and disabled (North Carolina)?

Yes—North Carolina guarantees access during your Medigap open-enrollment window if you’re under 65 and on Medicare due to disability, but the choices are limited to Plans A, D, or G. Insurers may charge higher premiums than for age-65 enrollees, and they can apply up to a six-month pre-existing condition waiting period.

  • Will my Medigap premium increase as I get older?

Often, yes. Many policies are “attained-age” rated, which means your premium can rise as you age. Others are “issue-age” (priced based on the age you were when you bought the policy) or “community-rated” (same price for everyone in an area), though all types can still see increases due to factors like medical inflation or claims experience. Check how a policy is rated before enrolling.
